NFC identification bracelets for older adults

An NFC identification bracelet provides a way for a compatible phone to read the information associated with it. When choosing one for an older adult, consider how it will be worn, who will help with setup and how the information will be kept current.

Choose a comfortable, suitable model

Check the product's size, fastening and materials. Involve the person who will wear it in the choice wherever possible. Confirm any specific requirement, such as a particular fastening or level of water resistance, against that model's description.

Agree how the profile will be maintained

Decide who will help with setup and future updates. Review contact information with the people concerned and check that it is current. Only include information the wearer intends to make available through the product.

Test access to the web profile

Bracelets from the current production batch have one NFC chip linking to the web profile. Opening the profile requires a compatible NFC phone and an internet connection. These units do not include a second chip for storing personal information for offline reading.

Keep a simple review routine

Review the information when a contact changes. After an update, read the bracelet again and check the result. Inspect the physical item and follow its care instructions.
