Using an NFC bracelet on the Galician Camino de Santiago stages
If you are walking through Galicia, prepare access to your emergency contacts before the trip. Mobile internet availability can vary along a route, so do not assume a web profile can be opened at every point.
Check access before relying on the profile
The current bracelet has one NFC chip that opens a link to a web profile. A compatible NFC phone and internet access are needed to view the details. There is no second chip storing personal information for offline reading. If a phone has no power or cannot connect to the internet, the profile cannot be viewed at that time.
Test the bracelet with the phone you will carry, open the link and check that your emergency contact is current. Consider carrying essential details in a form you can use without internet as well. Choose carefully which health information to share in the profile and who might see it through the link.
An aid for the journey
The bracelet does not make calls, transmit your location or replace medical care or Spain's National Health System digital clinical record. In an emergency in Spain, call 112.
Read the guide to preparing information for your trip and check the specific model's features before buying.
